With a long and respected history as an award-winning national broadcaster, many people have described him as “the voice of New Zealand”.
His experience covers the whole spectrum of radio and television broadcasting, as a presenter, reporter, interviewer, writer, newsreader, and actor. He is Manager of Presentation Standards at Radio New Zealand and can be heard sometimes presenting Midday Report and the news on Radio New Zealand National and Radio New Zealand Concert.
As a speech and public speaking consultant, Hewitt has coached other broadcasters into their careers, as well as developed the speaking skills of businesspeople and political figures. He is an experienced competition adjudicator.
Hewitt Humphrey was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 1996 and a Judicial Justice in 1997. Currently, he’s a Past-president of the Wellington Justices of the Peace Association.
As an MC, Hewitt reads the citations for the biannual series of Honours Investiture ceremonies around the country for Government House.
He is a long serving member of the Rotary Club of Wellington - the premier Rotary Club of New Zealand - and a National Ambassador for the Variety, the Children’s Charity
